Bexley Local Offer Live: SEND PfA Workshops for Young People

This event is aimed at young people with SEND (aged 13 – 25 ) as well as their parent carers, schools and settings and, our bookable workshops are open to young people on SEND Support as well as those with an EHCP.
 
This Preparing for Adulthood Event will have a focus on Community Inclusion, Health & Independent living.
 

The Event Details:

Date: Friday 6 March

Location: Civic Offices, 2 Watling Street, Bexleyheath

Session 1: 9.30-11.00 (there is a planned fire alarm test at 11.00)

Session 2: 11.30-1.00

Session 3: 1.30-3.00

The workshops we will be running throughout the event are:

Workshop A: Aspirations
Workshop B: Emotional Wellbeing
Workshop C: Next Steps

The adults accompanying young people at the event should also attend the workshop to support the young person or groups of young people.

Please note, there is a planned fire alarm test at 11.00, so young people can leave sessions 1.2 early if required to exit the building in good time to avoid the alarm.

Bexley IASS workshop: Phase Transfer - DATE TO BE CONFIRMED

Does your child or young person have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) currently?

Are they preparing to move in 2026 from:

  • Early Years to Primary
  • Primary to Secondary
  • Secondary to Post-16 education

Bexley SEND IASS will be running an online workshop for parent carers to help you understand Phase Transfer and what it means for you and your child.

This session is designed for parents who may be asking:

  • Do I get a say in which school my child goes to?
  • Can I ask for a special school or specialist provision?
  • What if the school I want says it cannot meet my child’s needs?
  • What if the local authority names a school I do not agree with?
  • What happens if key deadlines are missed?

  • What Phase Transfer is
  • Key dates and legal guidance
  • Parent carer, child and young person involvement
  • Signposting and sources of support
  • Q & A Session

This session is suitable for parents and carers of children and young people with an EHCP only.

Bexley IASS Parent Carer Champions – VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

IASS needs volunteer parents and carers to support IASS to engage with the wider SEND community, with the aim of being a champion for the IAS Service.

Whether you can spare an hour a week, day a week or more, we would love to hear from you.

You may be asked to promote the service in your local school or college, to co-produce some of our parent carer downloadable advice leaflets. 

There’s plenty to get involved in!

This is your opportunity to be a part in shaping and developing the IASS service to suit SEND family’s needs.

If you have a good understanding of SEND and / or lived experience and you are feel you want to be part of supporting IASS in the delivery of a high quality service, contact us to discuss.
