What is a Local Area SEND inspection by Ofsted and the CQC?

The SEND Partnership in Bexley consists of many partner agencies (education, health, children ‘services, adult services, voluntary organisations). The Partnership is likely to be inspected very soon. The inspection will be jointly undertaken by two regulators:  Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills (Ofsted) and Care Quality Commission (CQC). The inspection will take three weeks. Part of the inspection is where inspectors will want to speak to and get feedback from children, young people, parents/ carers. The inspectors will gather feedback via an online survey, that will go live in the first week of the inspection and will be open for six days.

Children, young people and their parents and carers will be notified of the start of the inspection and about the surveys going live on the Bexley Voice webpage, the Local Offer and the IASS web pages, as well as via education providers and key workers to make sure everyone is aware. It is important that the inspectors get as much information as possible, so we would ask as many as possible to take part.

We have attached brief guides from Ofsted and CQC about the inspection itself and about the surveys. The surveys will go live when the inspection is announced.
